The Oak on An der Bleiche, Nieder-Erlenbach
This oak is 4.55 metres round, and the document that protects it will only say it is over 100 years old. That gap between the tape measure and the date is the most interesting thing on record about it. It is natural monument 037 on Frankfurt's register, listed for its character and beauty, and it was kept when the city revised the register in October 2025 and deleted many other entries. The register gives the girth and the floor of the age and nothing else: no height, no planting date, no story. Nobody has published a closer figure, and we will not invent one from the girth. It stands in front of the community house of the Protestant church at An der Bleiche 8 in Nieder-Erlenbach, on ground that belongs to the Protestant regional association. No source we have found says those grounds are open, so treat it as a tree to look at from the street, which is where the pin is. The newest photograph we know of is from January 2021. If you pass it, or know when it was planted, tell us. Nieder-Erlenbach is a village district in Frankfurt's far north, about 15 kilometres from the centre. The protected cemetery limes are about 500 metres west, which makes the pair a short walk through the village.
