What is the oldest tree in Vainiai?
A white poplar standing in the overgrown remains of the former Vainiai manor park. Its girth of 6.85 metres and height of 35.5 metres make it one of the largest white poplars recorded in Lithuania. It is the only tree mapped here, published alone under the single-tree exception.
The Vainiai Poplar was first declared a nature monument in 1960 and re-confirmed as a state-protected natural landscape object in 1999. The manor park it once stood in as an ornamental planting has since gone wild; the buildings are gone, and what remains reads as overgrown parkland rather than a maintained estate.
