Which one is it? The big old oak beside the Skogshagestigen footpath, a short walk uphill from the grill at Delsjovagen 53.

When Gothenburg turned four oaks into nature monuments on 14 October 2025, this is the tree everybody stood under. The ceremony was held here, on the path called Skogshagestigen a few minutes from the Delsjon grill, and the four were designated as a set rather than one at a time. It has no name. Only Skarseken among the four carries one, and this oak is described by the path it stands beside, which is the ordinary fate of a gransek, a boundary oak. These trees marked the divisions between farms out here until the 1800s, doing the work a fence does, and most of them were never called anything at all. The city gives the group an age of 300 to 500 years and no individual figures. Of the four this is the one to build an afternoon around. Delsjon's woods and lakes begin a few minutes further along, so the oak stands at the seam where Orgryte's streets stop and the recreation ground starts, which is a better place to be standing under a five-hundred-year-old tree than a residential kerb. No girth, no height, no dated age. If you measure it, we will take the number.
