Which one is it? The heavy old oak on Laboratoriegatan near the Sankt Sigfridsgatan end, much thicker in the trunk than the street trees along it.

This oak was a property line before Laboratoriegatan was a street. It is one of Orgryte's gransekar, the boundary oaks that marked the divisions between farms out here until the 1800s, when the land was broken up and the district filled in around them with houses and street names. The tree stayed where it was. The line it holds has not been a line for two centuries. On 14 October 2025 Gothenburg declared four of these oaks naturminnen, nature monuments, and this is the westernmost of them, standing on a residential street near Sankt Sigfridsgatan. Before that day the city held exactly one such order, on a lime in Torslanda churchyard protected in 1945, so this is recognition that arrived several centuries late. The city gives the four an age of 300 to 500 years and stops there. Nobody has published a girth for this one, or a height, or a name; among the four only Skarseken has ever been called anything in particular. It is the least documented tree on this page and it has outlasted every farm, fence and owner that ever had a use for it.
