The official description of this tree runs to two words: 1 Linde, one lime. Bavaria's register of natural monuments lists it as ND-03903, the Bamberg district's list as number 48, on land parcel 669 at Unterhaid. Where the record gets specific is the address. The lime stands about 200 metres north of the railway underpass, in what the register calls a Baumfeld, a tree field, on the east side of a farm track laid out when the fields here were consolidated. It is a precise way to find a tree and a thin way to describe one. Everything a visitor usually asks about is missing. No species beyond lime, no girth, no height, no age. On Wikimedia Commons its photographs sit in a category called the big lime of Unterhaid, but that is somebody's label rather than a measurement, and we will not repeat it as one. What those photographs do settle is that the tree was alive on 18 March 2023, and that the camera stood within about six metres of the register's point, so the pin is good. Unterhaid belongs to Oberhaid, about twelve kilometres west of Bamberg's centre. The farm track beside the tree field is the likely way in, though no source we found confirms it, so treat this as a stop on a country walk rather than a destination in itself. Nobody has dated this lime or named its species. If you have stood under it, tell us what you found.

The line is our estimate of how much there is to see, not a measurement. Typical for this species where this tree stands; exact weeks shift with the year.
About 200 m north of the railway underpass, in the tree field east of the Flurbereinigungsweg, Unterhaid, Fl.Nr. 669You can recognise it by where it stands: in the tree field on the east side of the farm track, about 200 metres north of the railway underpass at Unterhaid.
Not stated by a source. The register places it in a 'Baumfeld' (tree field) beside a consolidation farm track; presumably reachable on foot along that track but not verified (OSM tags unreachable).
Unterhaid is in Oberhaid, about 12 km west of Bamberg centre. Public transport not checked.
