Fortunegen, the Fortune Oak of Dyrehaven

The crown of this oak is lopsided. The surveyor recorded it as strongly asymmetric, squeezed flat on the north side and full on the south, which is what happens to a tree that spent its life with something crowding it from one direction. It is also the junior of Dyrehaven's named oaks on this list. At 5.80 metres round it is nearly three metres slimmer than Trepileegen, and the arithmetic reflects that. A trunk of about 1.85 metres across, at the growth rates an open-grown oak manages, works out at somewhere between roughly 225 and 375 years. That is derived from the girth rather than measured on the tree, and it still makes this oak older than almost anything standing in central Copenhagen. Fortunegen takes its name from Fortunporten, one of the deer park's old gates, and it stands east of the Fortunporthuset gatehouse just north of Fortunvej. That corner of the park has its own station: Jægersborg on the Nærumbanen is ten to fifteen minutes away on foot, where the other oaks here mean a walk of half an hour or more from Klampenborg. Only the register carries this one. The walking account that names the park's other giants does not mention it at all.
