Approximate location.

Coast redwoods grow wild in a strip of fog along the California and far southern Oregon coast. This one grows on a residential street in Wallingford, and Seattle counts it among its Heritage Trees. The city's tree inventory gives it a trunk 62 inches across, about 16 feet round, a height of 85 feet, roughly 26 metres, and a crown 46 feet wide. It stands on the private frontage of 4625 Eastern Avenue North, so it is a tree for the sidewalk, and at 85 feet the sidewalk is a fine place to stand. That inventory is the only source we have for it, the pin included. The point has not been checked against the crown, so let the address guide you. A naturalist logged a plant within range in May 2025; whether that was this redwood has not been checked, so the city register remains the firm word that it stands. If you are unsure whether you are looking at a redwood or a giant sequoia, the other big Californian on this page, look at the foliage: a coast redwood carries flat needles in two neat rows, while a sequoia's are short, scale-like and pressed to the twig. The Heritage pin oak in Wallingford Playfield is about 780 metres away. A thicker redwood, 98 inches across, stands on East Highland Drive on Capitol Hill. Nobody has published when this one was planted. If you know, tell us.

This tree looks much the same in every month of the year, so there is no season to chart.

4625 Eastern Ave N, SeattleYou can recognise it as a coast redwood about 85 feet tall, with flat needles in two rows and a trunk some 16 feet round. It stands on the private frontage of 4625 Eastern Ave N in Wallingford; look from the sidewalk.

Free to see from the public street or sidewalk; the tree stands on private frontage at 4625 Eastern Ave N, so view from the pavement and do not enter the property.

King County Metro bus serves the nearby arterial; stop and walk time not verified.
