The Roadside Oak of Sacrow
One tree archive has come back to this roadside oak seven times since 2000, most recently in 2021. Natural monument number 14 is a pedunculate oak on the Krampnitzer Strasse in Sacrow, roughly opposite the turning into the Fährstrasse, and nothing about it is behind a gate: you see it from the street. Potsdam's register gives it 575 centimetres round. The Ostdeutsches Baumarchiv, a private record of old trees in eastern Germany, taped 596 in 2021. The gap fits a tree that grew after the city measured it, or a tape held at another height, so both numbers are kept. The archive also lists the paperwork behind it: an ordinance for the old Osthavelland district in 1949, and the Potsdam ordinance of 2005 that protects it today. Neither the register nor the archive gives it an age, and we have not found anyone who has. One warning about the pin. The register's coordinate sits by the Fährstrasse junction, which matches both written descriptions, but an online map puts the tree about 55 metres further east, and we have not settled which is right. So our pin is approximate. Go by the junction instead: the archive puts the oak about 20 metres north of it, just before the Fährstrasse comes in. The thousand-year oak in the Schlosspark is about 300 metres to the west. If you know this tree's age, tell us.

The line is our estimate of how much there is to see, not a measurement. Typical for this species where this tree stands; exact weeks shift with the year.
Krampnitzer Strasse, opposite the Faehrstrasse junction, 14469 PotsdamYou can recognise it as the big oak at the roadside of the Krampnitzer Strasse, about 20 metres north of where the Fährstrasse joins it. The pin is approximate, so trust the junction over the dot.
Free, open at all times: stands by the public Krampnitzer Strasse (OSM highway=residential), seen from the road.
Sacrow, north of Potsdam; city bus to Sacrow (stop not checked). About 300 m (straight line) east of the Thousand-Year Oak in the Schlosspark Sacrow.
