The Poplars of Zabaldika
How do I find it? You can recognise them as a group of large poplars rather than a single trunk, though nobody has recorded how many. They stand at the far eastern end of the river path, at Zabaldika in Esteribar, well beyond the Villava trees.
Nobody wrote down how many trees are here. The register's entry reads chopos de gran tamaño, large poplars, plural, with no count and no measurement attached to it. Elsewhere on this river the same surveyors were precise enough to record two trunks at one point and give a diameter for each. Here they saw a group worth cataloguing and left it at that, so it may be two poplars, it may be three, it may be a small stand, and we are not going to pick a number to make the page tidier. What is certain is where they are. This is the far eastern end of the river park, at Zabaldika in Esteribar, where the Arga comes down out of the hills and the path has long since left Pamplona's streets behind. It is the one tree entry on this river that is a walk rather than a stroll, and it should be treated as its own outing rather than tacked onto the others at the end of a long afternoon. No age, no girth, no height, no count, and no source but a 2013 survey. If you make it out there, tell us what is standing and how many. - In Zabaldika (Olloki), Esteribar municipality, at the eastern end of the river-park corridor, well outside Pamplona's built-up area; reachable only on foot or by car/bike along the riverside path, roughly 6km from the western end of this cluster (pam_007, Rochapea) and about 1.4km beyond the Villava trio (pam_011/012/013). No urban bus service confirmed reaching this point; treat as the far end of a long linear walk or a separate short visit, not as an easy add-on to the others.
