The Kosciuszki Silver Lime

Krakow already has one small leaved lime on this list whose age comes from an unusually exact match between a tape measure and the published science: the Krowoderska Lime, four hundred and two centimetres round, dated to 130 to 175 years by the species' own documented growth rate. This tree, on the same street, is a different species entirely, a silver lime, and its own trunk has grown even thicker: four hundred and twenty four centimetres. No document records when it was planted, so its age here is derived rather than measured: applying the growth rate this city's own lime data already established, widened to allow for the difference between species, puts it at roughly 130 to 190 years old. That is an estimate from girth, not a planting record, and the wide band is the honest shape of that kind of arithmetic. Poland's national register dates its protection to 1975; the city's own list gives 1997, the same reconfirmation-year pattern seen elsewhere on this page. It stands on ul. Kosciuszki in Krowodrza, visible from the public street, served by two city bus routes.
