The pine grows wild on a forested slope above Veľké Borové, at the foot of Súšava hill, and won Slovakia's inaugural Strom roka title in 2004 ahead of every other nominated tree in the country. Foresters recorded it at 23 metres tall and 460 centimetres round, and estimated its age at 250 to 350 years. An information plaque was installed after the win, and for a decade a geocache route guided hikers up the hillside path to find it. That geocache was archived in 2014 over deteriorated trail conditions, but no dated photograph or report has surfaced since confirming the pine is still standing, so this page states that gap honestly.
