¿Cuál es el árbol más antiguo de Luxembourg City?

The oldest tree in Luxembourg City, on the only evidence anybody has published, is the giant sequoia in Parc Amelie, at roughly 150 years: it was reckoned at about 140 in 2018. It stands beside the monument to Grand Duchess Amalia, seven or eight minutes on foot from the Royal-Hamilius tram stop, and until 28 February 2026 it had a twin fourteen metres away, felled that day with honey fungus in its roots.

The answer comes with a caveat, because the city protects its remarkable trees by regulation without dating them. Most of the trees on this list carry no recorded age at all: the register gives a number, a species and a location and stops. The beech below Bastion Beck comes with a source willing to say only that its age surely exceeds a hundred years. The ginkgo at Place Dargent has a source that states outright that its age is not known. So the sequoia takes the title on the strength of a single published estimate, about 140 years as of 2018, and any of the undated trees could in principle be older. One tree here does have a date, and it is the firmest kind there is. The horse chestnut in Parc Pescatore was planted in 1921 to mark the birth of Prince Jean, later Grand Duke, and has carried his name since, which makes it exactly 105. The sequoia's felled twin, meanwhile, has left a stump in Parc Amelie. If anybody has counted the rings on it, we would like to know.
