It made local headlines in 2025 when arborists raced to stabilise it after its roots showed signs of failure, a rescue completed and re-verified stable by October of that year. Giardino Giusti's cypress avenue, older in reputation and once admired by Goethe on his 1786 visit, cannot match that precision: its most famous original tree came down in a 2020 storm and was replanted, so the avenue's age today is a mix of survivors and regrowth rather than one dated planting.
