Welcher ist der älteste Baum in Assisi?

Italy's national register of monumental trees, which covers five of Assisi's six protected trees, has never carried an age field at all: it records species, girth, height, altitude and the legal criteria for designation, nothing about planting dates or ring counts. The sixth, the Downy Oak of Via di Valecchie, was added only in the register's tenth national update, by ministerial decree on 24 July 2026, and stands as the tallest monumental tree recorded anywhere in Umbria at 30 metres. Where a number does appear, as at the Eremo delle Carceri, it comes from an on-site sign rather than a survey, and this page says so rather than repeating it as fact. Two independent sources confirm each tree: the national or regional register plus either a dedicated Italian Wikipedia article or independent coverage of the register's own updates. Three trees stand in or just beyond Assisi's medieval walls, two more flank the path at the Eremo delle Carceri hermitage four kilometres up Monte Subasio, and the sixth is a further climb past the hermitage onto the open mountain.
