The Lanceleaf Cottonwood of Bispebjerg Kirkegard

The register is not sure what this tree is, and puts question marks in its own name field to say so. It files it as Populus acuminata, a North American hybrid cottonwood with no established Danish name, and the surveyor noted that the leaves within this group of three vary in how long they are against how wide, which is exactly the measurement the identification turns on. So here it is, published with the doubt attached. It is 2.36 metres round and 20 metres tall, the northernmost of the three, standing on the lawn between the northern and southern chapels of Bispebjerg Kirkegård. If you know poplars and you can settle it, that is a correction we would be glad to make. The cemetery is worth the trip on its own account. Copenhagen laid it out with avenues of poplar, pine, ash, hornbeam and Japanese cherry, so the planting is not a graveyard's usual scatter of yew and lime but something closer to an arboretum with graves in it.
