Qual é a árvore mais antiga de Ghisonaccia?
The oldest tree in Ghisonaccia is U Listincu, a mastic tree reckoned at 700 to 1,000 years old, rooted in the stonework of a Roman-era ruin on the Gattone plain south of the village. It won France's national Tree of the Year vote in 2011 and was labelled an Arbre remarquable de France the following year.
Mastic is normally a shrub. Along most of the Mediterranean it grows waist-high and gets browsed by goats; this one grew into a tree, and it is one of only about fifty ancient lentiscs known across the whole basin. Its age is an estimate rather than a ring count, and no source records a measured circumference, so the range stays wide rather than sharpened. It grows out of a Roman-era ruin on the Gattone plain, its roots worked into the old stonework. France recognised it in 2011, seven years before the cork oak in the next fields over, the Arburacellu, won the same national vote for its bird-shaped bark. The two now sit inside a kilometre and a half of each other, joined by one signed circuit from the village: about two kilometres by bike, four on foot through the orchards. It stands in a fenced enclosure with a gate left open for visitors.
