Two cannons dated 1809 and 1811 stand under this lime, more than a century older than the tree that shades them. The tree itself is the Lulboom of Megen, and its name translates, politely, as the chatter tree: in Dutch, lullen is to talk at length about not very much. The register's history notes say it became a meeting place for young and old, with a bench beside it looking out from the Maasdijk, and that is where the name comes from. It went in with more ceremony than its nickname suggests. The silver lime was planted as a memorial tree for the wedding of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard in 1937, placed as a royal lime at a prominent spot just outside the historic core of Megen. That makes it about 90 years old, young for this map, but in that time it has put on 3.9 metres of girth and 17 metres of height, by the register's undated figures. Its worst day is on record. A storm on Ascension Day 1992 split and damaged the tree, and the Heidemij braced and anchored it the same year. It was last inspected in 2023 and is still listed as monumental. Since at least 2023 the spot has also hosted Lulboompop, a music festival held at the tree every June. All of this rests on one source, the national register of monumental trees, which entered the lime twice and later withdrew the duplicate. Megen lies 14 kilometres from Oss.
