Salt Lake Cityで最も古い樹木はどれですか。

No planting date is recorded for any of the five trees we map in Salt Lake City, so the oldest is not known. The biggest is the state champion London plane in Liberty Park, 505 centimetres round and 30.5 metres tall. The best documented is the Cedar of Lebanon on Temple Square, which the Deseret News reported arrived around 1949 as a seedling seven inches high.

All five come from the big tree register of the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, which measures trunk, height and crown and records no planting dates. Each one is the largest of its species in the state. Four stand downtown. The champion hackberry and the champion Ohio buckeye share the southwest corner of Washington Square, around the City and County Building. The wych elm stands at the northeast corner of the Tabernacle on Temple Square, and the Cedar of Lebanon at the southeast corner of the Salt Lake Temple, a few minutes' walk apart. The London plane is in Liberty Park, about three kilometres south-east of downtown. All five are free to visit. Temple Square has been under renovation since 2020, with work expected to finish by the end of 2026, and parts of the grounds have been closed during it. The cedar was measured in 2019, before the excavation around the temple began, so it deserves a fresh look from anyone passing.
