The oldest tree on this Regensburg page is the plane in the Herzogspark, put at roughly 200 years old, standing in the public park at the northwestern edge of the old town beside the medieval Prebrunnturm. It is also the only one of these five trees with any age attached to it at all, and that figure comes from a photographer's caption written on site in 2022 rather than from a survey or a ring count, so read it as one person's estimate. The other four, two more planes and two chestnut groups, are protected by the city without a date between them: Regensburg's natural monument register records what is designated and when it was designated, never how old it is. The plane at the Alter Kornmarkt stands in the middle of the UNESCO-listed centre, on a square in use as trading ground since Roman times. The two chestnut groups are over the Steinerne Bruecke in Stadtamhof, a few doors apart on the same street, protected under separate numbers granted a year apart.
