The oldest tree on this page is Krzysztof, a pedunculate oak on a fenced municipal playground in the Wilda district, which the city's own arborist report put at 250 to 300 years old when it was protected in 2017. That makes it roughly a century older than the previous record holder here, the Abakanowicz Plane in the Zamek castle's Rose Courtyard, itself about 190 years old. Poland's national tree register carries no age field, so every figure on this page comes from Poznan's own designation announcements or the arborist reports behind them, and Krzysztof's is the widest range of any tree here: a reminder that even a protected, well-documented oak can only be dated to within fifty years without a core sample nobody has taken.
Every tree here is a pomnik przyrody, a natural monument, protected by Poznan city council and entered in Poland's national register, which records species, position and designation date but nothing for age or girth. Every figure on this page instead comes from the city's own announcements or the arborist reports behind them. Four planes share one square, Plac Wolnosci, surveyed by acoustic tomography before their 2023 designation; two more oaks share Cytadela Park, named for opposing commanders in the 1945 battle fought over the fortress there, 800 metres apart. The rest stand alone: a castle courtyard plane, a silver maple in Zielone Ogrodki, a plane of striking girth in Park Wilsona, and Krzysztof, the oldest tree here, on a fenced but publicly open playground in Wilda. The Chrzanowski Plane's 484cm girth is unusually thick for its reported hundred years, flagged rather than resolved. Poznan's newest wave of designations dates to 2023-2025; the Chuikov Oak's, from 1979, is the oldest protection on this page by four decades.
