The oldest tree in the Forêt de Senonches is Les Trois Frères, three sessile oak stems from a single stool that a 2010 survey measured at 325 years old, 32 metres tall and 5.5 metres round, putting it at roughly 340 today. It stands right at the Rond d'Angoulême, on the edge of the D941. A few hundred metres into the trees, the five-trunked Chêne Fauteuil follows close behind at 300 to 340 years, with an armchair-shaped hollow between its stems.
Both old oaks and the two younger attractions sit on the same 11.6 kilometre waymarked loop, the itinéraire des arbres vénérables, which the forest signs from the Rond de Monsieur car park on the road to La Loupe. That car park is itself a stop: seven giant sequoias and a cedar ring the junction, grown from seed brought to France in 1854 and planted here roughly a century ago. A short walk from there, at the Rond de Condé, a sweet chestnut planted by a forester's family stands out in a forest that runs mostly oak and beech, its exact age never recorded beyond more than a century. Les Trois Frères stands directly on the road at the Rond d'Angoulême, reachable within minutes of parking. The Chêne Fauteuil takes another ten to fifteen minutes on forest tracks from Rond de Monsieur to Rond de Condé, and a marked safety perimeter keeps visitors a few metres back from its trunk, which is shedding deadwood. All of it is state forest, free and open, with no public transport to the interior.
