Welcher ist der älteste Baum in Parry Kauri Park?

Both trees stand together at the park entrance in Warkworth, a few steps apart, and both owe their survival to the same rescue. The land was the Reverend McKinney's, later the Simpson family's, and about fifty years ago the Warkworth Kauri Bushmen's Association raised money for exactly these two trees, then gave the secured land to Auckland Council. The McKinney Kauri is the bigger of the pair, a clean trunk out of mown grass with a fence around its base, measured at 7.62 metres round and about 38 metres tall, an age usually given as about 800 years and repeated locally as the largest kauri on New Zealand's east coast, though nobody has formally settled the title. The Simpson Kauri stands a few steps away, smaller by two metres of girth, and carries its own bronze plaque recording a girth of 5.79 metres, a height to the first limb of 14.94 metres and an age of 600 years. A boardwalk loop, 20 to 35 minutes and partly wheelchair accessible, runs from the free Warkworth Museum car park on Tudor Collins Drive past both trees; cleaning stations at the entrance guard against kauri dieback.
