Welcher ist der älteste Baum in Oahu?

Foster Botanical Garden holds seven of the twenty-one trees on this page, and its own founding is younger than its oldest tree. William Hillebrand planted a kapok on his Honolulu homestead around 1851, decades before it became a public garden; it now stands about 27 metres tall with a trunk somewhere between four and seven metres around, the two sources disagreeing. Two more carry documented dates: a Bodhi tree of the Bodh Gaya lineage, given to Mary Foster in 1913, and a baobab planted in the 1930s, thirteen metres round. Fourteen more trees stand elsewhere, nearly all free: banyans at Thomas Square, the Honolulu Zoo gate, Iolani Palace, the Moana hotel's beachfront courtyard and the Kuhio Beach hula mound; the banyan the International Market Place rebuilt its steel canopy around rather than fell; the Geometry Tree of Ala Moana Beach Park; a monkeypod in Nuuanu Valley Park; a baobab, a cannonball tree and a tree that smells of dung once a year at UH Manoa; and a baobab and a pink bombax at Queen's Medical Center. The Hitachi Tree, famous across Japan as a company emblem, is the one paid exception, at Moanalua Gardens.
